Who I Am
I am a degreed paralegal with decades of experience helping people navigate legal processes with clarity, structure, and dignity. My work focuses on document preparation, procedural guidance, and court‑ready organization. I built Honest Paralegal Services to provide people with a clear, affordable, and respectful path through the legal system, free of unnecessary confusion or intimidation.
Why I Built Honest Paralegal Services
I’ve worked with excellent attorneys and difficult ones across many areas of law. Over the years, I saw what should be done and what should never be done. What I could no longer accept was doing all the work while clients received none of the support. Attorneys have the schooling, but so do many of us who are formally educated paralegals.
Most people don’t need an attorney; they need clarity. They need someone who can prepare accurate documents, explain procedural steps, and organize their case so they can move forward with confidence.
The legal system is full of myths that make people feel powerless. My mission is to correct those myths, empower clients, and provide structured support that respects both the law and the person going through it.
Do You Really Need an Attorney?
Attorneys are essential when someone must represent you, negotiate for you, or appear in court on your behalf. They are trained for advocacy, litigation, and legal strategy.
But most legal tasks are not litigation. They are procedural. They involve forms, filings, deadlines, and documentation — not courtroom argument.
You don’t always need a lawyer.
You always need clarity.
A paralegal is often the right fit when you need:
Clear, accurate document preparation
Court‑ready organization
Help understanding procedural steps
Administrative filings
Uncontested matters
Evidence organization
Structured support without attorney‑level cost
What Paralegals Are Allowed to Do
Degree-holding paralegals are trained in legal procedure, document drafting, and court requirements. My work includes:
Preparing documents
Organizing filings
Explaining procedural steps
Drafting client‑directed materials
Preparing court‑ready packets
Supporting attorney work when needed
This is the established, lawful scope of practice.
I do not:
Give legal advice
Interpret the law
Represent clients in court
Negotiate on anyone’s behalf
Make legal strategy decisions
The Supervision Myth
Some attorneys claim that “paralegals must work under attorney supervision.” This is only true for:
Legal secretaries
Legal assistants
Administrative staff
Individuals without formal paralegal education
Degree-holding paralegals are trained professionals with their own scope of practice.
We are permitted to provide non‑legal, procedural support directly to the public as long as we do not give legal advice or represent clients.
My work is grounded in:
Education
Experience
Procedural mastery
Clear boundaries
Respect for UPL rules
This is not a loophole. It is a recognized professional role.
When You Should Hire an Attorney
There are situations where an attorney is the correct and necessary choice. If the possible outcome is jail or prison, you definitely need an attorney. Attorneys are necessary for:
Criminal charges
Highly contested matters
Major lawsuits
Negotiation or advocacy
Anything requiring representation
Mediation or Arbitration
I will always tell you when your matter requires attorney involvement.
